so a fly found it's way into my house
into my room
into my lamp.
it was on, and hot.
i heard a "tink" against the metal lamp.
i wondered wtf was going on over my desk.
i heard it buzz and realized what it was
then i saw it fall
to the right of my keyboard.
it buzzed in loud anguish-filled circles
stretched, shook its legs
and DIED.

If I wasn't so freaked out by all this,
I would have taken my own pictures or something
instead of grabbing the closest tissue and flushing the poor thing.
Life has its ways
of teaching you a lesson.
like the old saying goes
"all that glitters, is not gold."
The poor fly was attracted to the light
not knowing it would be its final flight.
I know I should take heed of this warning
but what am I doing right now
that could be analogous to my late airborne visitor?
